Corridors should be of adequate width to allow maneuverability of a wheelchair. The risers on stairs and steps should be closed and have a uniform height of 4 to 7 inches. Stair treads should be equipped with non-slip surfaces. Handrails should be 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 inches in diameter and easy to grasp with a clear space of 1-1/2 inches between the handrail and the wall.
