Typical Accommodations
Typical accommodations for students with speech impairments may include:
- Increased writing, decreased speaking tasks
- Use of a voice output computer or other speech generated technology
- Provision of individual sessions to allow the students to clarify information presented in lecture, since the students may be reluctant to speak in class
- Modifications of assignments such as one-to-one presentation or use of a computer with voice synthesizer
- Alternative assignment for oral class report
- Course substitutions
